Turn Scientific Curiosity Into Practical Experience

Explore graduate-level microbiology before committing to a degree. Non-degree enrollment allows you to take online courses, strengthen your academic profile and build relevant knowledge on your schedule.

Non-degree students may take up to 15 credits from the Microbiology and Cell Science master’s course offerings. Courses are delivered fully online with flexible pacing designed for working professionals.

Enrollment as a non-degree student does not guarantee admission to a degree program. If admitted, eligible coursework may be applied toward a master’s degree or graduate certificate.

A new non-degree application is required for each term.

Up to 7 credits may be transferred into the master’s program upon acceptance. Courses must be completed with a grade of B or higher to qualify for transfer.

    ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
    • 2.0 upper-division GPA
    • English language skill requirements (international students only)
    • No application fee for non-degree-seeking students

If your undergraduate degree was not in the sciences, please email mcsadvising@ifas.ufl.edu or schedule an advising appointment with Jacqueline, Bill or RB.

    General Information

Courses taken as a non-degree student are credit-bearing and appear on an official University of Florida transcript, including course number, title and grade. GPA and total hours are not calculated for non-degree enrollment.

If you plan to transfer coursework to another institution, confirm transfer eligibility with that institution before enrolling.
