Microorganisms shape the health of our water, soil, oceans and ecosystems. UF’s Environmental Microbiology graduate certificate gives you focused, graduate-level training to understand microbial diversity, microbial interactions and the processes that shape natural and applied environments.
The 13-credit certificate is fully online and asynchronous, giving you the flexibility to build advanced microbiology expertise while managing work, school or other commitments. Coursework explores the methods used to study microorganisms in environmental, agricultural, public health and biotechnology settings.
Add a specialized graduate credential to your science background, strengthen your preparation for environmental and microbiology-focused careers or build toward additional graduate study. The certificate can also complement UF’s online M.S. in Microbiology and Cell Science, giving you the opportunity to pair focused environmental expertise with a broader master’s-level credential.
Graduation Requirements
- 13 credits are required to complete the certificate
- Only courses completed with a grade of C or higher can be counted towards the certificate
- Students must maintain both a 3.0 GPA in certificate courses (a lower GPA will result in academic probation and possible dismissal from the program)
