    • Description of Research

      My research group studies the role of plant-microbe interactions in the cycling of carbon and nutrients and on the resilience of the plant host and the ecosystem under environmental stressors. 

      We use a combination of biogeochemical, multi-omics, and geospatial tools to link microbial activity with ecosystem function in both agricultural and natural ecosystems. We study how interacting microorganisms, plants, and soils respond to and become involved in feedback loops with environmental changes. 

      I aim to link microbial and plant ecophysiological strategies to carbon fluxes in the face of climate change (e.g., accelerated sea-level rise, seawater intrusion, warming, etc.). 

      In collaboration with research partners, my group combines rate measurements of biogeochemical processes using stable isotope tracers, study in-situ microbial ecophysiology using multi-omics methods, measure fluxes of key nutrients at the ecosystem level, and upscale these processes to the landscape-level by blending statistical and geospatial analyses.
